Follow up question: Is it possible that in the minds of modern JWs who allow a child to die for the lack of a blood transfusion, that they believe they are following the example of Abraham and are thus performing works?

What type of person makes a good JW?
by Sour Grapes ini know many hundreds of jw's and there are several common.
threads that tie them together.. 1. they were born into the truth and got married, had.
children and now have deep jw family ties.. 2. people who are so gullible that they believe everything.

No difference between Jonestown massacre and WT teaching
by JWinprotest incan someone tell me what the difference is between jim jones convincing 900+ to kill themselves by injesting poison and the governing body convincing 7 million to die should they need blood to save their lives.
i don't get why government doesn't put them both in the same light..

While Jim Jones was highly visible and thus accountable for the calamity in Jonestown, the GB has become masterful in protecting the identity of the those who destroy the lives of millions. The Elder arrangement is an extention of that cloak of secrecy, being able to assisinate the character of any in the congregation and hide behind each other. It's kind of like that old arcade game where there are many holes from which a rubber heads randomly pop up as someone trys to hit them with a mallet before they drop back to cover. I believe that this is one reason so many exJWs remain angry ... it is difficult to identify exactly who was to blame for the poison they feel they have been served.

To go, or not to go ... that is the question.
If you have a need, you must go. I do not believe you are selling out, doing irreparable damage to yourself, or sending a message to the world that you are "hooked" or that you have relapsed.
It is just a public gathering and if it is unhealthy at some point your need will die just as love can die when a person is abused. Please do not put too much significance on a momentary feeling. It will pass.

10 characteristics of a friend ...
by The Berean ina friend does not dominate you but rather celebrates your freedom.. a friend listens when it helps yet reminds you if it appears you arent letting go.. a friend understands that not all things can be fixed nor should they be.. a friend privately thinks about what you say after it is said.
a friend wants to learn the things that you have come to know.. a friend does not think only in terms of right or wrong.
friends fill each others voids.. a friend knows when it is time to back off.. friends can be trusted with confidential information, forever.. friends laugh and enjoy playing the game of life together.

What religion do X-JWs belong to now?
by jonathan dough ini get the feeling many x-jws are floating about aimlessly and don't join christendom, still living with the jw indoctrinated belief that they are all the work of the devil.
does that make sense?
are they supposed to sit around in small groups in their living rooms reading scripture like ray franz recommended in crisis of conscience?

Breaking free from a JW experience is similar to enduring an ugly, drawn out divorce. It is diffiCULT for a former believer to dive into anything after ones devotion has been misdirected. Those whio never really bought the program in the first place have an easier time joining another social group for worship.

Any Change on YMCA Policy?
by bavman ini had heard recently the wtbs may have changed their policy on the ymca.
it would be helpful to me personally if they have.
i did know of a couple of people in my last congregation who went but i also heard some elders talking against it.

We have a Methodist hospital in our area which was spoken against in the cong ... UNTIL ... they were willing to perform bloodless surgery and now JWs come from all over the country as patients. I clearly see that the rules of the old gaurd in the borg are becoming unenforceable. Looks like mainstream ahead ...
